Towards Sustainable Knowledge

When Richard Stengel assumed the role of new editor-in-chief of TIME magazine in 2006, he outlined his plans to steer the magazine towards new horizons. At that time, he wondered whether a magazine still made sense in a world where news became outdated every moment. His answer was decisive: “TIME is knowledge; everything else is information, almost unprocessed.”

Beyond a certain arrogance, typical of many grand American statements, the concept is accurate. Magazines must provide, and I quote Stengel again, “timeless and timely information.”

I can say that The Green Side of Pink is an example of this philosophy. Its articles offer specialized, in-depth, and well-targeted information. Articles that remain relevant and capture attention in a fast-paced, click-driven world (much more so than in Stengel’s time). This is the proposal, initiated by Karyna Prieto seven years ago, that we must continue and deepen.

Certainly, the magazine also represents a significant effort in promoting sustainability. A concept well summarized by the United Nations: “Sustainability is a kind of juggling act. You have to keep three different balls in the air at once: economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental protection.”

On this path, the magazine will continue as a reliable source for understanding highly relevant issues. To achieve this, we have a team of professionals (writers, image and sound editors, translators, among others) of proven quality.

We will also stay attentive to technological innovations (readers can already listen to articles on Spotify and access differentiated content on Instagram) and continue growing and improving day by day.

The glamorization of poverty in fashion, a trend that receives much criticism, necessary campaigns to recover plastic washed up on beaches, and the elegant use of architectural space are some of this month’s topics.

Finally, my thanks to Karyna for her trust. Now, it’s time to keep working.
