Editorial May 2024

May is the month when the world seems to be reborn after the long winter. It is the time of the days that gets longer, of the meadows that are colored by flowers and by the sweet warmth of the spring sun, even in the land of Albion, where I live.

As we begin to think about summer or winter holidays depending on the hemisphere in which we live, our desire to spend time in contact with nature becomes evident. Did you know that there is a nature deficit disorder? Elizabeth Valverde talks about it in this interesting article about nature deficit disorder.

And while concerns continue about tropospheric ozone levels and the constant and rapid erosion of our coasts, we can finally celebrate great research and impeccable results carried out by a brave and talented Ecuadorian scholar Gina San Andres in collaboration with the University of Basilicata in Italy.

And the time has also come to communicate new personal adventures that will lead me to leave my position as Editor-in-Chief of the magazine. Mine was not an easy or taken lightly choice, but necessary for me at this time. I decided to devote myself completely to my MA in Creative Writing at Birkbeck University (second but not last) and to my work as a fiction writer.

This magazine is and will remain a project dear to my heart for the topics covered, but also and above all for the wonderful people who have crossed my path and with whom I have had the honor of collaborating in these almost two years, starting from our founder Karyna Prieto, tireless champion of respect for our natural world, for the rights of the weakest and for the need for ethical choices

It has been an extraordinary journey, and it has been an honor to share it with you all dear readers. But every journey has its end, and now it’s time for me to embark on a new adventure.

With affection and gratitude,

Mara Girone
