Who Gives A Crap is the ironic name of an organization that produces and distributes toilet paper around the world, supporting sustainable ideals.
The project was born in Australia, when the three founders, Simon, Jehan and Danny, realize that 2.4 billion people in the world do not have access to a bathroom.
That means that 289,000 children die each year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.
The brand therefore bases its production on a very serious problem: developing countries do not have adequate sanitation facilities and absolutely need them as soon as possible.
It all began in July 2012, when the founders launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo.
In 50 hours they had already raised $ 50,000 and in a few months, in early 2013, they launched their first toilet paper on the market.
The goal was to change consumption patterns and raise funds for healthcare projects around the world.
Humor and sustainability
The product presented by Who Gives A Crap is fundamental in our daily life.
Toilet paper, handkerchiefs and napkins which, in addition to being useful, are a clear call to humor and sustainability.
In fact, their toilet paper is made entirely from recycled paper, bamboo or sugar cane.
Each product is designed and created according to very specific rules, respecting the environment.
100% of the material used is recycled from books and office paper; the product is wrapped with paper; and above all, no inks, dyes or perfumes are used.
Sustainability is key to the Who Gives A Crap team, as is humor.
The products that the brand presented are in fact original, colorful and fun.
Every piece that is sold is unique and has different designs and decorations, so as to entice the customer to buy.
The brand has the B Corp ™ certification, which attests the highest standards of social and environmental impact.
Who Gives A Crap toilet paper can be purchased through their official website and in some Australian and British supermarkets.
Social commitment
Who Gives A Crap was born with the intention of revolutionizing the world, both from an environmental and a social point of view.
In fact, it uses 50% of its profits to build toilets and improve sanitation in degraded and poor places like Central Africa, South America and Asia.
The brand works closely with WaterAid to help the world’s poorest people access clean water, sanitation and hygiene education.
To date, Who Gives A Crap has donated over AUS $ 8 million to their charitable partners: WaterAid, Sanergy, Lwala Community Alliance and Shining Hope For Communities, iDE and WaterSHED.
The more innovative the solutions partners can unlock, the faster they can help build toilets for the 2 billion people who don’t have them.
